Top Defenses To Pick Up In Fantasy Football Week 14

D-Fence Sign — There were several defenses that came up big in Week 13. There were a total of 11 defenses to post double-digit fantasy points and three defensive units to post more than 20 fantasy points. With some fantasy football postseasons getting underway this week, a strong performance from a defense could be the key to winning a league. Here are the top five fantasy football defenses that need to be picked up and started.

New Orleans Saints Def/ST — The Saints have had a miserable season defensively (averaging just 3.1 fantasy points per game) and have negative points in three straight weeks. This week should be a different story as New Orleans hosts the Carolina Panthers, who are allowing the fourth most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Although the Saints have lost three straight games at home, Carolina's offense gave up 25 defensive fantasy points last week on the road.

Houston Texans Def/ST — The Texans have the fourth-most fantasy points of any defense and they travel to Jacksonville this week. The Jaguars, though playing better at home, are still allowing the most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Don't expect a second-half comeback from the Jags this week, as J.J. Watt and that Texans defense will stymie Jacksonville's offense much more than the Giants were able to in Week 13. If available, pick up and play Houston.

Jacksonville Jaguars Def/ST — Like Houston, the Jaguars should present more of a challenge defensively than the Titans were able to against the Texans in Week 13. Don't expect Ryan Fitzpatrick to explode for six touchdowns this week in what could be a game full of turnovers. The Jags defense has the fourth-most fantasy points over the last three games. After a 22-point performance, the Jaguars, who are owned in less than two percent of leagues, are a great steal this week.

St. Louis Rams Def/ST — After a 52-0 demolition and 29 fantasy points defensively, it would be hard to not consider the Rams defense this week. St. Louis has the most points of any other defense over the last three games and play a Washington Redskins team this week, allowing the third-most fantasy points to opposing defenses. Although Colt McCoy threw for almost 400 yards, three TDs and no picks, Washington still allowed 11 points to the Colts defense last week.

Minnesota Vikings Def/ST — The Vikings defense had 25 fantasy points in Week 13 with two TDs in their home victory. This week, Minnesota has another great matchup at home against the New York Jets, who have committed 20 turnovers this year. The Vikings have a top-10 scoring defense this season but are owned in under 25 percent of leagues, making them the top defense on Week 14's waiver wire.
