2015 Fantasy Baseball Sleeper: Mark Trumbo

Mark Trumbo was once one of the most valuable fantasy baseball thumpers during his time with the Los Angeles Angels, but his first with season the Arizona Diamondbacks was an utter disaster.

Trumbo had a stress factor in his left foot and missed a good chunk of the 2014 season. He ended up only playing in 88 contests, and as a result, he had the worst season of his fantasy career. Even his power numbers were down across the board. He finished with just 14 home runs and 61 RBIs, while his .415 Slugging Percentage and .707 OPS were both below his career numbers of .460 and .758.

Before his injury-plagued campaign, Trumbo was a true slugger. He hit 29 or home runs in three straight seasons, capped off by 34 home runs and 100 RBIs in 2013. He has earned his stripes as a power hitter and will look to regain his 30-100 form in 2015.

The team will also be much healthier this season with Trumbo coming back and All-Star first basemen, Paul Goldschmidt, ready to return as well. Trumbo will see plenty of hittable balls with the extra lineup protection, which should help the veteran raise his slash line across the board.

One of the best attributes of Trumbo is that he qualifies at multiple positions. In most formats, he will still qualify as both a first basemen and an outfielder. This instantly adds to his value and makes him a valuable backup plan at first base.

Trumbo, much like Goldschmidt, will be a prime candidate to have a bounce back fantasy season. He will fall pretty far this spring and will be one of the best mid-round sleepers to target, so make sure to circles his name on cheat sheets in the coming months.
