Marc Gasol is True Fantasy Basketball MVP Candidate

Marc Gasol is leading his Memphis Grizzlies on a possible NBA title run, and it must be surreal for a guy who once attended high school in the area. If you have him on your fantasy basketball team, then you are quite a lucky owner. Trading for him in your league would be an absolute steal, because this center is a fantasy basketball MVP candidate.

The reason for that is due to his versatile skill-set. His 18 points, eight rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game all illustrate why he is Memphis’ most important player, but then it is also amazing that he averages 3.7 assists per contest (all of these numbers are accurate as of Feb. 28).

It would not shock me if he raises those statistics by the time postseason basketball rolls around, because the Western Conference is currently a bloodbath, where playoff seeding will be crucial to who advances. Will this have an effect on fantasy basketball numbers in the last couple months? I think so, and the Grizzlies will be leaning on Gasol in particular to operate from the high post and set up his teammates. This will lead to great scoring and assist numbers from the Spaniard, and it would not surprise anyone to see him get votes as MVP and Defensive Player of the Year. Will he win those accolades this season? Probably not, but his fantasy impact can’t be denied.

Trade for Gasol if possible, because he will not disappoint you with the way he fills up the box score.
