Building The Perfect NBA FanDuel Lineup For March 9

My lineup yesterday was chock full of busts as it finished with a final score of 248.8 fantasy points. Aaron Gordon, Rudy Gobert and C.J. McCollum were especially disappointing when you consider the prices paid for them. Well, I will look to make up for yesterday by building the perfect NBA FanDuel lineup for tonight. There are nine games to sift through, so let’s get to work.

(PG) Kyrie Irving - Cleveland Cavaliers - $7,200

Kyrie Irving is averaging 35.5 fantasy points over his last five games, and he gets to face the Sacramento Kings tonight. The Kings are notoriously bad at defending PGs as proven by their 27th rank against the position this season. Sacramento has defended the position better lately, but they didn't face a PG of Irving's caliber. He should be good for 36-plus tonight.

(PG) Shelvin Mack - Utah Jazz - $3,900

Over his last five games, Shelvin Mack is averaging 20.3 fantasy points, and that means that he's been exceeding value. He will face the Golden State Warriors and their sub-par defense against PGs tonight. The Jazz are expected to see an increase in pace from this matchup. I feel that this should lead to Mack exceeding value with another 20-plus performance.

(SG) James Harden - Houston Rockets - $11,000

James Harden is projected to be the highest-scoring player tonight according to my research. He will face the Philadelphia 76ers and their horrendous defense against SGs. They're ranked 24th in defensive efficiency against the position, and they've shown no signs of improvement lately. This should lead to Harden scoring 50-plus as he tries to carry Houston into the playoffs.

(SG) Devin Booker - Phoenix Suns - $5,700

Devin Booker was a little shaky after the All-Star break, but he's been playing better lately. Over his last three games, he is averaging 37.1 fantasy points, and he'll get to face the New York Knicks tonight. The Knicks are an average team against SGs, and Booker scored 24.5 against them in their last matchup. Based on his increase in minutes since that game, I project Booker to score between 30-35.

(SF) Luol Deng - Miami Heat - $6,100

Luol Deng is listed as a SF, but he's actually the starting PF for the Miami Heat right now. He will face the Milwaukee Bucks tonight, and it's a pretty good matchup for him. The Bucks are ranked 19th in defensive efficiency against opposing PFs and allow the seventh-most RPG to the position. This bodes well for the former Duke Blue Devil to score between 30-40 fantasy points.

(SF) Robert Covington - Philadelphia 76ers - $5,700

In his last game against the Houston Rockets, Robert Covington went berserk and scored 57.9 fantasy points. While I don't expect such an astronomical performance against them again tonight, he is still in a good spot. Houston is ranked 28nd in defensive efficiency against opposing SFs. This should lead to "Lord" Covington scoring at least 25 with 30-plus upside.

(PF) Derrick Favors - Utah Jazz - $7,600

In his two games against the Golden State Warriors this season, Derrick Favors is averaging 35.7 fantasy points. He gets to face them again tonight, and it's a great spot for him especially with the expected increase in pace for his team. Additionally, the Warriors are ranked 26th in defensive efficiency against opposing PFs. This should lead to Favors scoring 35-45 fantasy points.

(PF) Tobias Harris - Detroit Pistons - $5,800

The Detroit Pistons will square off against the Dallas Mavericks tonight, and I like this matchup for Tobias Harris. He is locked into playing close to 34 minutes per game and the Mavericks are a below-average team against PFs. This should lead to the former Tennessee Volunteer scoring between 28 and 35 fantasy points.

(C) Alex Len - Phoenix Suns - $6,600

Over his last five games, Alex Len is averaging 41.2 fantasy points. This includes consecutive 50-plus performances over his last two games, and he has been a very safe option as of late. He will face the New York Knicks and their struggling defense against centers and PFs. Len plays both positions and should be able to score at least 33 fantasy points in order to make value.
