Point Guard

Ricky Rubio $14,000

Rubio has been absolutely fantastic over the last week or so, even though his price has barely gone up. With 38+ in 3 of his last 4, I expected to see a big price bump here for Rubio. Instead, he is still sitting below all of the high-end and mid-range PG’s. Rubio has been relied on to take control of the offense, and Tom Thibodeau obviously has a lot of trust in him. He also has improved quite a bit on defense, which could be a huge reason for him seeing a lot more minutes recently. Thibs is a big defense guy and puts effort/defense way before shooting. The Nuggets are a pretty good match-up for any PG, as they have ranked in the bottom 8 in terms of FP and real-life points allowed to PG’s. Rubio is a do-it-all guard, which should play into this match-up as the Nuggets give up a lot of peripherals. This game is projected to stay close and be high scoring, so it should be interesting to see how it plays out. Rubio is my favorite PG and I’m hoping he gets overlooked with all of the options up top. Rubio is in a prime spot for both cash games and tournaments.

Marcus Smart $11,400

Marcus Smart has been manning some healthy minutes for the Celtics, with production following close behind. He has allowed Avery Bradley to take the proper amount of time off needed, which will help the team in the long run. The Celtics take on the 76ers tonight, which means Smart will be covered by Nik Stauskas. Stauskas is not a very good defender at all and Smart will have his way with him. Sitting in just the mid 11k’s, he will need to get you around 29 to hit value. He has surpassed that number in each of his last 3 games and likely will again tonight. Smart is a very safe option in both cash games and tournaments, especially on DraftDay where most PG’s have inflated tags.

Shooting Guard

Devin Booker $13,850

Devin Booker has the honor of taking on the Lakers tonight, who have been absolutely horrific against SG’s. Nick Young and Jordan Clarkson will both cover Booker, who will have extreme success against both. Both of those guys have sported negative DefRtf’s, which means they are below league average on defense. Booker has been shooting well lately and has no problem taking over this offense. There’s plenty to go around tonight, so Booker and Bledsoe could both have nice games. Booker is my favorite SG on the board, as he has a 35 point floor and a 55 point ceiling. Booker can be targeted in both cash games and tournaments and gets a bump on DraftDay due to the 3pt bonus.

Dion Waiters $13,700

Waiters came back from his injury and picked up right where he left off, finishing with 23 points, 2 rebounds, and 6 assists. It looks like he is a permanent piece on this offense and it looks like he might be pretty good. Well, at least on this team where he can throw up a bunch of shots and not play much defense. He gets a match-up with the Rockets tonight, where he will likely match-up with James Harden. Harden has no chance of covering Waiter 1-on-1, which will give Waiters a chance to score a ton once again. He is definitely a little bit riskier than a guy like Booker, but has just as much upside and will be lesser owned.

Small Forward

Giannis Antetokounmpo $21,200

The Nets play at the fastest pace in the league, resulting in high-scoring, possession-filled games. Giannis is one of the more efficient DFS superstars per possession, which will pay dividends in this one. I assume they will put Rondae Hollis-Jefferson on Giannis to start, but he has no chance. Giannis will bring him inside until they try out somebody else. The Nets will soon realize they have to double-team, which is when Giannis will start racking up his assists. The Nets and Bucks did face off twice earlier this season, where Antetokounmpo had big games. With one double-double and one 5×4, you can be sure he has what it takes against these guys. Antetokounmpo comes in as our top superstar, with a endless ceiling. With Jabari Parker out for the year, he will absolutely see a usage spike. I’m guessing Giannis will be pretty highly owned, but I could also see a scenario where he is only 15-20% due to the bevy of other superstars available. Either way, I will be contributing to that %. He will be locked into my cash games and tournaments, as I don’t see too many paths to failures for Giannis tonight.

Michael Beasley $5,900

Beasley is basically a must play on DraftDay. He has been getting extremely solid minutes and the production has been there as well. We just touched on Giannis and the same stands for Beasley. The Nets are an extremely fast-paced offense, which turns the other teams production way up, due to the influx of possessions. Beasley should be over 8k at this point. He only needs about 20 to hit value in cash tonight, which could easily happen in the first half.  The upside is tremendous as well, as he showed just last game. Beasley might be 100% owned on DraftDay tonight, but don’t be that one guy who doesn’t have him.

Power Forward

Nikola Jokic $18,350

Nikola Jokic is legitimately one of the best big men in the league, believe it or not. Personally, I take him over Towns 7/7 days. The 2 will face off tonight and we will see who truly is better. I think Jokic has the edge and delivers the dominance. He has 2 triple doubles in the last 2 weeks, as well as 3 straight games over 50 fantasy points. Towns maybe one of the best young talents down low, but he lacks the defensive ability needed to slow down a power like Nikola Jokic. While I’m not sure we can expect another 65 fantasy point outing, we can expect another 45-50 safe points, with the upside for much more.

Channing Frye $7,750

This is a pretty easy one. With Kevin Love out, I will be playing Channing Frye every single game. That is until his price rises, of course. He is still in the mid 7k’s, which forces me to roster him everywhere. Frye is a guy who is extremely productive while on the court, especially with LeBron. He is extremely good at spacing the floor, which is what LeBron loves, as it opens up the paint. The Pacers are far from an intimidating match-up, as they play faster than average and give up a lot of fantasy points to stretch forwards. You can count on Frye to absolutely devour value and surpass it with ease. He will be locked into all of my lineups tonight.

Center

Al Horford $16,050

Al Horford isn’t a guy I tend to roster a ton, though he has been good this season. This is a spot I have a ton of interest in, mostly due to the match-up and price. The 76ers are absolutely putrid against big men, especially with Joel Embiid out. Nerlens Noel, Ersan Ilyasova, and Dario Saric are not shutdown defenders by any means, as they have contributed to the pitiful defensive efficiency this frontcourt has. Horford should be able to lock in 25 fantasy points before this one starts, with the upside for much much more. The Celtics should win this game pretty handily, though I don’t expect it to be a blowout. The 76ers have done a good job of hanging with good teams, though that will be a bit tougher without Embiid. If the Celtics do happen to blow these guys out, you can be sure that Al Horford will have something to do with it. Isaiah has been getting him more involved lately, which has turned into production. Horford can be trusted in both cash games and tournaments in this match-up.

Clint Capela $11,750

It may be a bit scary to click on Clint Capela, and rightfully so. He has burned a lot of people in the past and it always seems like he’s hurt. However, he is a very good PNR center which is why he is on this team. Harden sees a big boost with Capela on the floor, as he is a pick n’ roll specialist. He is guaranteed to see the ball as well, due to Harden using him as a shield on most plays and dumping it off to him constantly. While Hassan Whiteside is a pretty intimidating big man, he’s not the most defensively skilled guy around. He lacks the footwork to stay with Capela from the perimeter and could get lost in the sauce. I could see him going for blocks and steals on Harden, which could leave Capela wide open. He may not be the safest option on the board, but has plenty of upside and should be just fine for his price.
