Manuel, Minaya Fired

Jerry Manuel and Omar Minaya are gone and not a moment too soon for Mets fans. Manuel getting fired was a no-brainer. After two and half years as the Mets skipper he leaves New York with a losing record (204-213). After taking over for Willie Randolph in June of 2008 he led the Mets to a 55-38 record over the last 93 games of the season. They were in first place as late as September 19th before a second straight late season collapse. 2009 was a season full of injuries and the Mets finished fourth, 22 games under 500. 2010 was supposed to be a season of redemption for both the Mets and the manager, but after early season success the Mets fell cold as the weather turned warm. The Mets ended June 1.5 games out of first, but went 34-49 in the final three months of the season and ended 18 games...
