St. Louis Cardinals Prove that any Team Can Beat Any Team in MLB

St. Louis Cardinals

Frank Victores-USA TODAY Sports

There are good teams in Major League Baseball and then there are the St. Louis Cardinals. They are nearly three games out in front of any other division leader. Actually the second and third place teams in the National League Central are closer to them than the other division leaders. The point here is clear. The Cardinals are the class of baseball and have been the best team for over a month now. Who is the worst team in the majors? That would be the team that beat them badly on Sunday, the Miami Marlins.

First of all it should be said that the Marlins are most certainly playing better than they were for the first couple of months of the 2013 season. That being said they still are far worse than the Cardinals who already are up to 44 wins as a team. The fact that they could be handled quite easily by the Marlins just goes to show how great of a sport baseball really is. All the worst team in baseball needs is a few big hits and a great performance from Ricky Nolasco, their starting pitcher. That’s all it took for baseball’s biggest upset of Sunday.

What a great display. It really makes me want to watch the Marlins more closely to see if they can win a series next or maybe sweep a team. At the same time I want to see if the Cardinals have trouble getting things together for their next series. Truthfully as good as they have been they are only a short losing skid away from losing their coveted spot at the top of the NL Central to either the Cincinnati Reds or the Pittsburgh Pirates. All because the worst team got great performances and beat the best team. What a great sport this is.
