Baltimore Orioles Get Back in Gear on Their Way Out of California

After leaving Maryland with so many questions after the Seattle Mariners came to town last Sunday taking two out of three from the Baltimore Orioles, the Orioles were in need of answers. It looks like those answers were granted in California. Chris Davis and Adam Jones provided those answers with home runs on the road trip.

The Orioles started the week off sweeping a two game set from the San Diego Padres and ended the their road trip taking two out of three against the San Francisco Giants by winning 10-2 on Sunday in the battle of the orange and black. Bud Norris started off the game shaky as he allowed two runs in the first inning but was able to keep the Orioles in contention for a win after in his six innings on the day. The Orioles went the first six innings scoreless and entered the next three innings scoring 10 unanswered runs.

If you are the Orioles, there really isn’t any time to ask, “How did we pull off that win? Where do we go from here?” Just keep winning. The landscape of the AL Wild Card seems to change by the day, and the only thing the Orioles can do at this point is focus on their next opponent. There is pressure for the Orioles to get on a roll given the fact that the team has struggled all year against teams with losing records.

You could make the argument right now that the Orioles should be in first place in the AL East, but they are not. At least they are starting to realize that the time is now and are putting more of an emphasis on making struggling teams submit.
