Colorado Rockies Rumors: Tim Hudson Would be Great Addition if they Get Him

Tim Hudson

There has already been a great deal of discussion about the Colorado Rockies intentions for the 2014 season. They are bringing back Walt Weiss for at least one more year. Michael Cuddyer looks to take over at first base full time for the retired Todd Helton and will likely do a very good job over there. They plan to keep Troy Tulowitzki there as long as they can as well as Carlos Gonzalez. One thing they need to do however is sure up the starting staff and they are rumored to be searching for Atlanta Braves veteran starter Tim Hudson to do that.

First things first, the rumor suggested that Hudson would be a good middle of the rotation guy for the Rockies but that is bunkum. Hudson’s fighting spirit, experience and never-say-die attitude is more than enough to put him at the top of the pitching staff when coupled with his sinking pitches that would probably do fairly well at Coors Field for the balance of the season. Regardless of where they would put him, Hudson would be a great addition for this club.

There are problems they have to overcome though starting with the fact that every single team looking for a consistent and solid veteran starter will be in on Hudson. The biggest factor of course will be the fact that the Braves themselves are still interested in keeping Hudson for another season which is exactly where Hudson says over and over that he wants to be. He does live blocks from the ballpark there.

If however, the Braves cannot offer Hudson what he wants or needs to continue and he looks elsewhere, the Rockies would do themselves a ton of favors by sticking at the very top of the list of teams asking about him. Getting a solid veteran with Hudson’s ability to lead on and off of the field would be amazing for this team or any team.
