J.C. Ramirez is a Shot in the Dark for Cleveland Indians on Minor Deal

So many times in Major League Baseball the biggest and best relievers in the game are not those that come with a tremendous track record and major league pedigree. Rather, many times the best of the best among relievers are built from those who have not had the best seasons the previous year or even those who have never enjoyed a good year. The Cleveland Indians are taking a chance on J.C. Ramirez by signing him to a minor league deal.

This is a very good move. Anytime a team can sign someone that has promising ability that is unachieved as of yet to a minor league deal, the sky is the limit. So many good things can come from a deal like this that it makes no sense not to sign the young man. He could first of all prove to be ready to make the big leap to finally break out as a premier reliever in the Indians bullpen. That isn’t the only way this could turn out good for them however.

It is also possible that he could at least work his way to the point that he would be a good player to add to a trade in order to sweeten the pot a bit. Anything is possible. That also means that it is possible that Ramirez will have a season in the spring and in the minors that makes his 2013 look wonderful. He could totally flop and never even get the chance to look at the big leagues for the Indians. In that worst case however, they still are only out a small amount of money. It’s a good risk to take.
