The Baltimore Orioles have made it to the ALCS for the first time since 1997. They are in an unlikely matchup with the Kansas City Royals. Their success will breed players to look for more money. Re-signing Nelson Cruz is reportedly tops on their list of priorities after re-signing J.J. Hardy. That money will cause the team to cut salary elsewhere.

Delmon Young signed with the Orioles on a minor-league contract prior to the season. He ended up making the postseason roster and made an impact. He will get a major league deal this offseason with another franchise.

Nick Hundley filled in for Matt Wieters when he was lost for the season due to Tommy John surgery. He hasn't been awful, but there are better options out there with the questions surrounding their starter's future.

Kelly Johnson was on three different AL East teams this season. In fact, over the past three seasons he has played for all five teams in that division. He is a journeyman, and he will continue on that journey.

Alejandro De Aza came to Baltimore as a rental. He was acquired in a deadline-day trade with the Chicago White Sox. He provided the Orioles with offense this postseason, which could get him a decent contract somewhere this offseason. The Orioles will be priced out of negotiations.

Nick Markakis has been on the Orioles for what seems like forever. He has been with the team for nine years. Through thick and thin, he stayed in Camden Yards. It is sad to think that the Orioles would not pick up his option, but $ 17.5 million is too much for a player who hasn't provided that kind of production.
