Though the New York Yankees often have money to spend, they are at their best when they are able to bring top pitchers through their system. While many of their top prospects look to be two or three years away, they have an impressive group of young arms. Here is a look at their top five pitching prospects heading into 2015.

At one point, Manny Banuelos was viewed as not only one of the best pitchers in the Yankees' system, but one of the best left-handed pitchers in the minor leagues. As a pitcher built on control, he looked to take over a role at the top of the team's rotation, but after missing all of 2013 due to Tommy John, he has some work to do to get back his high prospect status. Last season, he finished with a 4.11 ERA, but he was able to make 25 starts.

Once a college starter, Jacob Lindgren's future for the Yankees looks to be in the bullpen. After being drafted last season, he was able to make it to AA Trenton. Of all the Yankees pitching prospects, he looks to be the closest to major league ready. He could certainly have an impact at some point in the 2015 bullpen. Last season in 19 appearances, Lindgren went 2-1 with a 2.16 combined ERA allowing opposing batters to hit just .135.

As one of the key pieces of the Martin Prado trade, Domingo German is a pitcher with a very high ceiling. Pitching for the Miami Marlins organization last season, he went 9-3 with a 2.48 ERA. At just 22 years old, he has very impressive command that should help him in his quest to become a top of the rotation starter.

At just 20 years old, Luis Severino may have the most upside of any Yankee farmhand. He has a power fastball that he can crank in the high 90s and a power slider. With strong command, he was able to get all the way to AA last season. Another strong year in 2015 could get him to New York much faster than expected.

Ian Clarkin is still just 19 years old, but if last season is any indication of his career, he is set to do great things. Though he was one of the youngest pitchers in the minor leagues, he was able to go 4-3 with a 3.12 ERA, as he was eventually promoted to high A Tampa. With a low-90's fastball and excellent off-speed pitches, he has a bright future as a top of the rotation starter in New York.
