5 Biggest Overreactions For Boston Red Sox After First Week of 2015 MLB Season

The Boston Red Sox have one of the most passionate fanbases in baseball which means they often overreact to both good and bad things their team does. Here are five times that’s already happened this season.

5. Rick Porcello Was Worth the Money

Surprisingly, the Red Sox have already locked up Rick Porcello, who they traded for this offseason, long term. He signed a four-year, $82.5 million deal and there doesn't seem to be much dissent from Red Sox nation. However, this was far too much money to pay for a good No. 2 or 3 starter. To put it in perspective, that's just a couple million dollars less per season than Cole Hamels.

4. Young Platoons Can't Work

There is often a lot of doubt about a lot of young guys contributing on an MLB team. However, the Red Sox have a young group that can help get the job done. Guys like Mookie Betts and Brock Holt are valuable members of the team, and mixed with veterans, the Red Sox could have a recipe for success.

3. Hanley Ramirez Will Be Fine In Left Field

So far, Hanley Ramirez hasn't really been tested at his new position, but he will be. Left field at Fenway Park is tough to get used to, and late in the year, he will undoubtedly face some tough plays out there. If he can respond to that challenge, then the team can confidently say he's adjusted to the outfield.

2. Rotation Has It All Figured Out

The pitching rotation has looked pretty good early on in Boston, but there are still plenty of question marks there. Essentially, they don't have a true ace but have several No. 2 or 3 starters. That could prove problematic down the stretch or in the playoffs, but only time will tell if that's the case.

1. Team Will Cruise To AL East Title

After starting off the season relatively hot, the Red Sox are confident. Their fans probably think they're headed to the playoffs already after just one week. Not so fast. The Blue Jays and even the Orioles could give them a run for their money, because they have a comparable talent level on their rosters.
