5 Arizona Diamondbacks Who Belong on the Trade Block

After sweeping a doubleheader against the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday, the Arizona Diamondbacks have a 12-14 record so far in 2015. That said, they are not expected to be a serious playoff contender this year.

Here are five Diamondbacks who should be on the trading block right now.

Diamondbacks' general manager Dave Stewart would do well to trade from a surplus of outfielders in order to add something else of value. Peralta has started just five games since April 18, so he appears to be the odd-man out if there is one in Arizona's outfield.

The Diamondbacks are expected to sign catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia once he clears waivers, so Pacheco's already minimal playing time is likely to be reduced. A demotion to Triple-A is possible, but Pacheco's versatility could appeal to other teams.

3. Rubby De La Rosa

Arizona should get Archie Bradley (head) back fairly soon, and Patrick Corbin (elbow) is likely to be ready in June. Robbie Ray also made a case to stick around in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader (one run on five hits over six innings), so De La Rosa needs to pitch well to stay in the starting rotation much longer. If he does, a sell-high opportunity could be on the table.

2. RP Brad Ziegler

Ziegler has a 0.82 ERA so far this season, over 12 appearances, despite striking out just five batters in 11 innings (4.1 K/9 rate). This is the final fully guaranteed year on his contract, with a reasonable buyout for 2016 ($1 million) for a team that doesn't want to keep him after that point, so Stewart could be taking calls about Ziegler fairly soon.

Hill was the subject of trade rumors prior to Opening Day, and he's added some versatility by seeing time at third base early this season. Add in a current six-game hitting streak (10-for-20, two home runs, six RBI and four runs scored ), and the opportunity to maximize Hill's value on the trade market looks like right now.
