After initially rumored to fall through, the Juan Uribe for Alberto Callaspo deal is finally going down between the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers — and it involves a bevy of minor leaguers.

Callaspo gives the Dodgers’ pocketbook some breathing room, alleviating $3.5 million compared to Uribe’s contract (Uribe is currently making $6.5 million annually), but that appears to be the only motivation behind the trade. Uribe is putting up a .247/.287/.309 slash line, while Callaspo has been struggling at .206/.293/.252.
