5 Milwaukee Brewers Who Deserve 2015 MLB All-Star Game Consideration

The Milwaukee Brewers are currently 24-43 on the season and have lost five consecutive ballgames. General manager Doug Melvin has already fired manager Ron Roenicke and replaced him with former Brewers player Craig Counsell. The managerial change hasn't made a difference, and now there's talk of Melvin being on the hot seat. Despite the woes, the Brewers still have five players who should be considered for the NL All-Star team.

Normally, the National League shortstop position isn't very deep when it comes to the All-Star team. When healthy, Troy Tulowitzki is usually the cream of the crop, and then a bunch of mediocre players file in behind. In 2015, however, there are a lot of deserving players, including Brewers shortstop Jean Segura. Although he missed some time with an injury, Segura is batting .275 with a .306 OBP, three homers, 17 RBIs and eight stolen bases.

4. OF Carlos Gomez

Carlos Gomez hasn't had the start to the year that most would expect, but he's still put up solid production. Batting mostly out of the leadoff spot, Gomez has a .275 batting average with a .313 OBP, five home runs and 24 RBIs. His inclusion in the All-Star game would give manager Bruce Bochy a great pinch-runner for late in the game, or late-inning defensive replacement.

Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun is a five-time All-Star, but he hasn't been selected to the National League All-Star team since his connection to Biogenesis was revealed. Braun is currently 12th in outfielder voting for the NL All-Star team, meaning it's unlikely he will be voted in this year. Battling a thumb injury, Braun has put up solid numbers with a .253 batting average, .323 OBP, 13 home runs and 41 RBIs.

Despite not being given many opportunities, Brewers closer Francisco Rodriguez has had a brilliant first half of the 2015 season. He possesses a 1.13 ERA with a 0.79 WHIP, 26/7 strikeout-to-walk ratio and 13 saves. More than likely, Rodriguez will be the Brewers' lone All-Star selection, unless he ends up being traded before the All-Star game.

Adam Lind has been the Brewers' best player all season long, but he's unlikely to make the All-Star team due to the position he plays. With the likes of Paul Goldschmidt, Adrian Gonzalez and Anthony Rizzo all playing the same position as Lind, it gives him no chance. It's a shame because Lind deserves recognition for the season he's put together to this point. He's batting .278 with a .349 OBP, nine home runs and 33 RBIs.

Milwaukee Brewers' Rymer Liriano Hit In Face With Pitch

The Milwaukee Brewers caught a tough break on Sunday when 24-year-old outfielder Rymer Liriano was hit square in the face with a pitch by Matt West of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dominican outfielder, who was fighting for a roster spot with center field vacant in Milwaukee, suffered multiple facial fractures and is out indefinitely.
