Atlanta Braves’ Front Office Should Be Trusted as MLB Trade Deadline Approaches

Jonny Gomes

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

There is no doubt that the sweep at the hands of the Washington Nationals has many Atlanta Braves fans wondering who is going to be traded as the MLB trade deadline draws near. Not so fast, though; the Braves might not do exactly what most think they will do right now.

If John Hart and company have proven anything this season, it’s that they can both build for the future and put a competitive team on the field at the same time.

This leads to them having loads of options. There will probably be much talk about Cameron Maybin possibly going somewhere since he has played so well. The Braves have a few good young center field prospects in the minors who could take the helm later. The same factor could lead to Jonny Gomes or another outfielder being part of a trade. Don’t be surprised if they trade from the wealth of young pitching prospects they have either.

Right now there is only one thing we can all count on when it comes to what the Braves’ front office is going to do: Fans have no idea. None of us know what will happen next with this team.

If they were willing to trade Craig Kimbrel, then they will trade anyone if the price is right. At the same time, they might bring in a key player who might give them the extra boost they need to get back in the thick of the race in the NL East. They have so many options it’s difficult to imagine which they will choose.

One thing that seems to be true is that this group will do what is best for the team both in the long-term and the short-term.
