The Colorado Rockies moved Troy Tulowitzki at the trade deadline, which was a change in direction for this franchise. One offseason may not be enough to correct the issues the Rockies have in the pitching staff, but here are five players that may make the Rockies to wild card contenders in 2016.

Chris Davis could do great things in Colorado. With a hole in left field to fill, the Rockies could use a superstar like Davis to help the fans forget Tulowitzki. They could also decline Justin Morneau’s contract and move Davis to first.

4. Edward Mujica

John Axford had 25 saves and a mediocre year for the Rockies in 2015, and was the highlight of the bullpen. Edward Mujica is a classic set-up man with closer’s experience.

3. Hisashi Iwakuma

The entire rotation is up for grabs in 2016. Kyle Kendrick will not be back in Colorado and the rest of the staff is young. Hisashi Iwakuma is a solid veteran with much to offer.

2. Scott Kazmir

Scott Kazmir is a lifetime American League pitcher, just like Iwakuma. The challenge that Colorado provides is alluring, and so is being the leader of a young staff with an explosive offense.

1. Yovani Gallardo

Yovani Gallardo may be the top starter in the market this offseason. He reminds many of Ubaldo Jimenez. Gallardo provides strikeouts and a swagger the Rockies rotation is currently lacking. Unfortunately for the team, Gallardo will be one of the most sought-after starting pitchers this offseason. The Texas Rangers will try to resign him, while the Los Angeles Dodgers are the frontrunners. The Rockies will probably have to settle for Mujica.
