10 Most Annoying Trash Talkers In MLB Right Now

A little friendly trash talk every now and then is entertaining in MLB. However, some players take it too far and are just annoying with their trash talk. Whether they’re a great player or not, these 10 guys are the most annoying trash talkers in the game.

10. IF Sean Rodriguez - Pittsburgh Pirates

S-Rod isn't the highest profile player, but he still picks fights from time to time. Whenever there's a disagreement between teams, he's right at the center of it. Just look at the NL Wild Card Game last year, where he was already removed from the game and then threw punches (which didn't land) after Jake Arrieta was hit by a pitch and the benches cleared.

9. SP James Shields - San Diego Padres

Shields has always been a bulldog on the mound, and he generally uses his tough mentality to his advantage. Sometimes it boils over, though, and he becomes a total jerk, jawing at hitters from the mound. Stuck in San Diego on a losing team, he's only bound to get more frustrated and talk more trash as the season goes on.

8. SP Jeff Samardzija - San Francisco Giants

Despite the fact that he's only put together solid halves of seasons twice, Samardzija seems to think he's a superstar, yelling at batters and acting arrogantly on the mound. While he's a tough competitor and has some great stuff every now and then, his career accomplishments don't match up with the level of arrogance he shows day in and day out.

7. DH Alex Rodriguez - New York Yankees

For obvious reasons, A-Rod has cut down on trash talking in recent years, but he used to be among the best (and worst) of them. Fans will never forget that, so he should still be considered one of the most annoying trash talkers in the game. Everyone knows he's still cocky, he just doesn't show it quite as much in his old age.

6. RP Jonathan Papelbon - Washington Nationals

Papelbon is one of the most frustrating pitchers in the league, because he doesn't shy away from trash talk at all. In fact, he got into a scuffle with his own teammate, Bryce Harper, last year. He's a fiery guy, but at this stage in his career, he's gotten on just about everybody's nerves for the amount of trash talk he still dishes out.

Puig hasn't been involved in an incident lately, which tells you he might be due for one soon. He doesn't trash talk through actually talking, but rather through his actions. The Cuban slugger might bat flip or pimp his chain after connecting on an extra base hit. This demonstrative playing style has rubbed plenty of people the wrong way.

4. SP Matt Harvey - New York Mets

Harvey is one of the best pitchers in baseball when healthy, and he makes sure opposing batters know it. He's a very passionate guy and he lets it all hang out on the mound, which naturally can turn into trash talking from time to time. What's annoying is that he would be far more intimidating if he just threw it by guys at 100 mph and didn't say a word about it.

3. OF Jose Bautista - Toronto Blue Jays

Bat flip. Need we say more? There actually wasn't as much of a problem with the bat flip as many people thought, but it shows the type of showboat player Bautista is. Even as he approaches 40, he remains extremely cocky and gets on other player's nerves. As long as he can keep backing it up, though, don't expect him to stop.

2. OF Bryce Harper - Washington Nationals

Bryce is good for the game of baseball and his flair for the dramatic is even better for the sport. However, his constant trash talking on and off the field is getting a little old. It's become customary for some of the best players in each sport to act this way, but it just comes off as immature. Squarely in his prime, Harper isn't going to take directions from anyone, though, which makes him a villain character. But it also makes him special.

1. SP Yordano Ventura - Kansas City Royals

Ventura is a promising young starter for the Royals, but he gets flustered far too easily. He incited two brawls just last season and was involved in a third. The flamethrower was justified once, but he continued to pick fights even when it didn't make sense. Clearly, he's a guy with a short fuse, and until he starts picking his spots better and actually realizes his potential, he's going to be the league's most annoying trash talker.
