Wade Boggs Gives Big Middle Finger To Red Sox As He Wears Yankees World Series Ring To Ceremony At Fenway Park

Wade Boggs spent the first 11 seasons of his major league career with the Boston Red Sox. He helped lead the franchise to three playoff appearances, including in 1986 when the Red Sox lost to the New York Mets in the World Series.

On Wednesday night, the Red Sox held a ceremony to honor that 1986 team and Boggs was there in his Red Sox jersey with teammates Roger Clemens, Dwight Evans, Bill Buckner and Jim Rice. There was another accessory that Boggs had with him that really has Red Sox fans up in arms, and I can’t say that I blame them.

That’s right. Boggs decided it would be a good idea to wear his 1996 World Series ring that he won while playing for the New York Yankees into Fenway Park to celebrate one of the greatest teams in Red Sox history. While Boggs has refused to choose sides in the rivalry, one would think that he knew what he was doing when he decided to put that ring on last night.

Boggs was giving a big middle finger to the Red Sox and their fans, intentionally or not.
