Ben Askren has been one of the most dominant wrestlers in MMA. Opponent after opponent, he has been able to dominate them using his wrestling, and he’s arguably one of the best wrestlers in all of mixed martial arts. The only question was, can he do it against elite competition such as that in the UFC?

After leaving Bellator, the UFC announced that they had no interest in Askren, saying he would have to work his way up and prove himself. Well, it seems like Askren is getting the chance to do just that, as he has reportedly signed with One FC. Along with signing with One FC, Askren will also start training with the Evolve MMA training camp. He will transition between Evolve MMA and Roufusport between training seasons.

Askren sports an undefeated record of 12-0 in MMA, and he will look to continue his impressive winning streak in Asia. Looking at the roster of One FC’s welterweight division, Askren is already the favorite to be their champion. Some fighters in this division include Adam Kayoom, Igor Gracie, Brock Larson and Gregor Gracie. Askren should be the favorite over all of these fighters, and he is set to make his debut in this promotion sometime in 2014.

One FC is one of the only promotions that allows kicks and knees on the ground, so it’s going to be interesting to see what type of adjustments, if any, Askren makes. It’s a great move on his part, and he has the chance to keep his winning ways alive in hopes of moving onto bigger promotions, such as the UFC.
