2013 NBA Draft Prospect Profile: Steven Pledger, Shooting Guard, Oklahoma

Kevin Jairaj-USA Today Sports

Name: Steven Pledger

Age: 22

Height: 6-foot-4

Position: Shooting Guard

School/Country: Oklahoma

Latest Stats: 11.6 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.4 apg

After a junior season in which Steven Pledger averaged 16.2 points per game, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard saw a decrease in his offensive numbers here in 2013. Pledger’s shooting numbers went down and he finished the year averaging 11.6 points per contest. Pledger has always been known as a solid shooter, but he’s not much of an all-around NBA prospect. Pledger has decent athleticism and he has shown the ability to put the ball on the deck and get to the line, but he may have already peaked at his ceiling.

Don’t expect Pledger to hear his name called on that final Thursday in June.

Strengths: Pledger can shoot the basketball and he’s shown the ability in the past to be a solid scorer in both the half court and in transition. Pledger has decent athleticism and he’s not afraid to launch on the perimeter.

Weaknesses: Pledger’s numbers went down from his junior to senior seasons and that’s a red flag. In fact, nearly every statistical category dipped, including his minutes. Pledger is your prototypical shooting guard and that doesn’t bode well for his draft stock.

Draft Projection: Undrafted
