Boston Celtics Have Potential Trade Partner in Sacramento Kings for Rajon Rondo
The Boston Celtics appear to be on the verge of a disappointing 2013-14 season and it’s one that could help dictate the future of the franchise.
The upcoming NBA Draft is the deepest it has been in years and the team should do everything in its power to obtain a top five selection. Most people believe in order to do that the team should trade star point guard Rajon Rondo. It makes sense for the Celtics to eventually explore avenues to trade Rondo and one team that still appears to be the perfect trading partner is the Sacramento Kings, even after acquiring Greivis Vazquez earlier this summer.
Sacramento hasn’t been relevant in years. The Kings need someone to help fill the seats in their arena. They desperately need a star player and Rondo would obviously fit that description to a tee. The Celtics would need an awful lot back in return, a package that would have to begin with either DeMarcus Cousins or Ben McLemore.
It would be interesting to see which headliner Celtics GM Danny Ainge would prefer first. Most think it would be Cousins that he would immediately ask for, but McLemore is also very appealing. He was widely considered to be the most talented player in last year’s draft class and would help to solidify the Celtics future back court.
Cousins is arguably a top 20 player based on talent, but he is a head case and Ainge might not want to expose his antics to new head coach Brad Stevens.
The Celtics have a potential trade partner with the Kings if they decide it is best to ship off Rondo.
