Chicago Bulls Rumors: Team Interested in Antawn Jamison

A rumor leaked out early Friday morning that the Chicago Bulls are interested in acquiring the 37-year old Antawn Jamison, who is currently a free agent.

NBA training camp is coming up and teams are beginning to fill those last few pivotal roster spots. The Bulls have been on the rumor wire lately expressing interest in veteran big men. Just two weeks ago, it was said that they were entertaining Marcus Camby‘s interest in joining the squad. That gossip shortly fell through after Camby signed with the Houston Rockets last week.

As of late, many, if not all veteran free agents, in their last few years, have been openly expressing their interests in joining teams which they feel are championship contenders. Jamison is not one of the veterans to follow suit, though. After jumping onto what seemed to be a stacked Los Angeles Lakers roster last season and averaging all-time lows in points (9.4) and rebounds (4.8), Jamison is taking his time choosing the team that is right for him.

If the Bulls decide to add Jamison to their roster, it will likely mean the end of previously released Malcolm Thomas and Erik Murphy. They will also have to know that Jamison is there to play and not just somebody trying to fill a roster spot.

Jamison is a solid power forward who can rebound, stretch the floor with his three-ball and provide effective depth for the Bulls off of the bench. Jamison seeing decent minutes could mean that Taj Gibson could possibly only pick up minutes as the back up center. The Bulls might even look to move Gibson down the road.
