Nemanja Nedovic, the final pick of the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft, will be coming to the league this season to play for the Golden State Warriors. Before heading into Warriors training camp and testing his chops against NBA level competition, Nedovic is playing for Serbia at Eurobasket 2013.

In his first three games at the tournament, Nedovic was impressing with his play. He was averaging 12 points, three assists, 3.3 rebounds and one steal per game. Nedovic was looking solid while attacking the rim and while creating for teammates, though his lack of a consistent jump shot did detract slightly from his performance.

Over his last three games in the tournament, including Serbia’s first game in the second round, Nedovic hasn’t been nearly as impressive. He’s averaged just 5.3 points, 2.7 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game. However, the most disappointing things about Nedovic’s recent play at Eurobasket is the fact that he has turned the ball over an average of 2.3 times per game and has shot a combined 6-25 from the field, which is absolutely putrid.

Nedovic is only 22 years old and the Warriors know that he still has a bit to develop before he’s a big contributor for them. However, his recent play at Eurobasket has highlighted how dire his need to develop his shot is. Defenders have been able to take away his strengths of driving and handling the ball and it has rendered him largely ineffective.

As Nedovic begins training camp soon, the Warriors are going to have to work diligently with Nedovic’s offensive game. There’s no doubt that he has potential with his ability to distribute and handle the rock, but his deficiencies will cause him trouble if he doesn’t work on them while he makes his foray into the Association.
