5 NBA Players Who Could Rival Michael Jordan's Pickup Team

Michael Jordan has been in the news a lot lately when it comes to hypothetical basketball matchups. It started a few weeks back when he was asked about dream one-on-one games. The G.O.A.T. said that he could beat anyone, with the possible exception of Kobe Bryant, because the Black Mamba steals his moves.

Recently, another hypothetical question was posed to MJ - who would be on his all-time pickup team? Jordan revealed the following players - Magic Johnson (point guard), Scottie Pippen (small forward), James Worthy (power forward) and Hakeem Olajuwon (center). "I got no chance of losing. None at all," said MJ.

It's really tough to argue against him on this one. First of all, any team that has No. 23 on it, is going to have a solid chance of winning. But when you put guys like Magic and The Dream out there with him, they would be dang near unstoppable. Johnson is a 6-9 point guard who could do it all and no one had moves down low like Olajuwon. There's a reason The Dream is still giving out low-post lessons to this very day.

Some people were probably surprised by MJ's pick of Scottie Pippen. There are other small forwards you could easily make a case for over Pippen, like Doctor J for example, but Jordan already has chemistry established with his former partner in crime. Pippen is no doubt a solid choice.

So in the realm of hypothetical teams, would there be a group of five guys who could rival MJ's Dream Team? I racked my brain and thought about the matchups and came up with these five legendary players. Who knows if they could beat them, but there's no doubt it would be a hard fought, close contest:

PG - Oscar Robertson

The Big O is the ideal choice to play opposite of Magic Johnson. At 6-5, he's tall enough, plus we all know that he's the best utility player of all time. This is a guy who averaged a triple-double for an entire season. He could do it all.

SG - Kobe Bryant

If there's anyone in the history of basketball that could stand toe-to-toe with MJ, it's the Black Mamba. There's a reason that Jordan admitted Kobe could possibly beat him in a game of one-on-one. Stolen moves or not, Bryant would be game.

SF - Lebron James

At 6-8 and 240 pounds, James would give Pippen a hard time. We all know what Lebron can do on offense (everything), but it's his defense that would be key in this hypothetical pickup game.

PF - Charles Barkley

The Round Mound of Rebound had many battles with James Worthy back in the day. There's no doubt he's tough enough to overpower Big Game James, but Barkley could also shoot jumpers on him all day long.

C - Wilt Chamberlain

To take down The Dream, there's only one man for the job - Wilt the Stilt. He was an inch taller and about 25 pounds heavier. That would give Olajuwon troubles down low.

It's a shame that this crazy matchup can never happen, but it's sure fun to wonder and debate with your basketball friends.
