Oklahoma City Thunder Fan Does The Impossible

Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Imagine you’re standing half-court with a chance to win $20,000. All you have to do is heave up an almost impossible shot in an almost impossible situation in front of more than 10,000 screaming home-town NBA fans. That’s a scary situation for most people out there. I could imagine that there’s no way possible that your heart isn’t racing and your hands aren’t trembling in nervousness.

Even with all the noise, all the doubt, and all the money on the line, you wind back and you toss up one hell of shot, and luckily enough, it goes through the net. Everything instantly changes, and it only took a little bit of faith and a whole lot of luck.

That was the story last night for Cameron Rodriguez when he hit a halftime, half-court money ball shot to win $20,000 (Check out the video here). It’s the second time a Oklahoma City Thunder fan has hit the shot in less than a year; everyone should remember when Kevin Durant raced out to mid-court and trampled the fan who hit the big shot last year in OKC.

Whether it’s been fans or the Thunder players hitting big shots, there’s been a lot of big game hoops being put in at the Chesapeake Energy Arena. The excitement in Oklahoma is just as high as it’ ever been, as this young team and fan-base shake off the doubt en route to shot to win the NBA Finals. Hopefully, there will be a lot more half-court magic for these fans as they cheer on a team they all can be proud of.
