The Chicago Bulls have won five straight games and haven’t lost a single contest since Luol Deng was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. However, it’s going to take more than a five-game winning streak to save head coach Tom Thibodeau‘s job. Just two years removed from being the Bulls savoir, Thibs now finds himself on the hot seat and rightfully so.
For obvious reasons, Thibodeau has been rumored to be an unhappy coach who is looking for anyway out of the Windy City. Within the last week, the rumor mill has really gone full blast as the New York Knicks supposedly reached out to the Bulls’ coach and are working towards a new deal. Clearly, that would violate the NBA‘s tampering laws and mean big trouble for both parties; but hey, the reports are still out there.
Therefore, Bulls general manager Gar Forman should just nip all of this “noise” in the bud and cut ties with Thibodeau once and for all. This coach-front office relationship has been on the rocks ever since assistant coach Ron Adams was fired in the preseason, much to the chagrin of Chicago’s head coach. Combine a trade of Thibs’ favorite player and another season-ending injury to Derrick Rose and you have created a perfect opportunity for Thibodeau to hit the road and possibly return to the Knicks, but this time do so as a head coach and not an assistant.
Even still, Thibodeau is already a massive headache for Forman’s bunch and it’s time to finally show the Bulls’ head coach the door and further the rebuilding process in the Windy City.
