The Oklahoma City Thunder are not lacking in confidence heading into the upcoming season, and it is shameful that we did not see a healthy version of this squad against the San Antonio Spurs last spring. They will have their chance again this year. Their media day last week was pretty tame, however, there were still a few juicy storylines that should be fun to keep an eye on as the months progress. Here are my five main takeaways from the press.

We will have to see if it is a realistic expectation, but Reggie Jackson seems absolutely hell-bent on finding his way into the starting lineup. I'm not sure he is quite ready.

Scott Brooks was not shy at media day, and you certainly can't blame him for having confidence in his own team. He proclaimed Russell Westbrook the league's best point guard, however, that makes me wonder if Chris Paul's eyebrows were raised after that statement.

3. Russell Westbrook Agrees

Russell Westbrook not only agrees with Brooks, but you can tell that he believes himself to be the league's best player overall. Yep. He counts himself even better than the reigning MVP listed on slide No. 2.

This technically did not get revealed on media day, but it is still interesting nonetheless. Kevin Durant unveiled this fact on an NBA2K press opportunity for a late night talk show.

I did not know how fiercely the Thunder pursued Pau Gasol until this week. It was continually brought up as a sticking point during media day, which makes the imagination run wild as to how they could have used the Spanish power forward. Too bad Gasol hitched his wagon to Derrick Rose's (probably) arthritic knees.
