Although the Boston Celtics are not yet fully healthy, the young team should prove to be much better than last season. Head coach Brad Stevens returns for his second season in Boston, and Rajon Rondo returns for what could be his final season in Boston. Have the Celtics made enough improvements to contend in the east? Here are five reasons Celtics fans should be excited about the 2014-15 season.

With the addition of Marcus Smart, the Celtics have a young understudy at point guard just in case Rajon Rondo decides to play elsewhere after this season. If Smart can continue to improve his outside shooting, he should be a contributor off the bench in Boston, as he is already a good perimeter defender. Second year forward Kelly Olynyk looks improved and will also see a lot of time at the center position.

Boston Celtics fans should see improvements on the court as well as the sidelines with Brad Stevens in his second season as head coach. Despite his young age, Stevens' demeanor and attention to detail makes him the perfect fit for the Celtics. If the Celtics can remain healthy, fans should see a major improvement on the court.

3. Jeff Green

If the Celtics can get the Jeff Green who averaged 16.9 PPG and 4.6 RPG last season, the team should see an increase in total wins. Whether or not the Celtics will keep the small forward remains unknown, but if Green can improve his defense and cut down on his turnovers while putting up the same numbers as last season, the Celtics would be crazy to part with Green.

With the addition of Marcus Thornton and Evan Turner, the Celtics are deeper at the guard position than last year. Both guards are proven scorers and Turner can play both guard positions if needed. If Gerald Wallace can come back from injury and give the Celtics quality backup minutes at the small forward position, the Celtics will surprise a lot of teams.

Although Rajon Rondo's future in Boston is up in the air, Celtics fans should be excited to have the All-Star guard on the court playing rather than on the sidelines. Despite admitting to not being fully 100 percent, Rondo is currently averaging 10.0 APG, 8.5 PPG and 8.5 RPG
