The Miami Heat have gained a $2.75 million trade exception from the loss of Josh McRoberts to a season-ending injury. Because of this, the Heat are one of the many prime teams looking to sign a key player for the stretch end of the season. The Heat are five games under .500, but because they play in the East, are currently the seventh seed, which isn’t too shabby considering the circumstances. Here are five players Miami should target.

5. Brandon Bass

The Boston Celtics haven’t found many substantial offers for Brandon Bass on the trade market, so this could be the perfect time for the Miami Heat to swoop in and trade for Bass at a reasonable price. Bass could be the first power forward off the bench for the Heat, and average numbers close to what he had last season with the Orlando Magic (11.2 points, 5.6 rebounds).

4. Jordan Hill

Jordan Hill is another power forward the Miami Heat should give consideration to. Hill’s name has popped up in trade rumors recently, which means the Los Angeles Lakers are willing to get rid of Hill for a fair price. Hill is averaging a career-high 7.9 rebounds per game this season, which would be a huge boost for the Heat’s frontcourt.

3. Goran Dragic

The Heat’s point guard issues haven’t gone away this season, and Dragic would be a huge boost for that position. Dragic also would immediately start with the Heat, instead of coming off the bench for the Phoenix Suns. The Heat wouldn’t mind having their starting point guard averaging 16.7 points, 3.9 assists and 3.6 rebounds a game.

2. Roy Hibbert

Even with the emergence of Hassan Whiteside, the Heat could still use a starting center who isn’t at the tail end of his career, which right now is Chris Andersen. The Heat’s rebounding woes would instantly be resolved with the addition of Hibbert’s 7-foot-2, 290-pound frame.

1. Reggie Jackson

If Miami could pull off a trade for Reggie Jackson, it would instantly vault it into the title contention conversation. Jackson would be such a huge boost for the Heat’s backcourt, and could even find himself in the starting lineup, something he doesn’t have with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Jackson is averaging a career-high 14.9 points, 4.9 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game this season. Now is the time to trade for him.
