The news of Chris Bosh missing the rest of the season couldn’t come at worse time for the Miami Heat, with just a little under 30 games remaining in what has been an extremely tumultuous season. The Heat recently traded forwards Danny Granger, Shawne Williams and rookie center Justin Hamilton for Goran Dragic, a move to help boost the Heat’s extremely weak point guard position. By doing this, the Heat’s front court rotation became a lot thinner, and that was before Bosh’s diagnosis.

The Heat now only have three active players who could work in the power forward or center rotation: Chris Andersen, Udonis Haslem and Hassan Whiteside. The shortage of forward players isn’t a recipe for success, especially heading into the playoffs. The Heat now have to focus on acquiring a big man for the stretch run of the regular season, and presumably the first round of the playoffs.

Recent reports have suggested that the Heat are targeting Andray Blatche, who is currently playing in China, to fill the void of Bosh at the power forward position. Another player’s name that has recently generated interest is former Heat forward Michael Beasley, who would be a great addition offensively for the second unit. Both players could help take some of the slack off of the Heat’s backcourt, who are now going to have a lot more offensive responsibility thrust on their shoulders from the absence of one of their best players.

No player on the market right now will adequately fill the void of Bosh. He is a superstar player who averages 21.1 points and 7.0 rebounds a game. The Heat can, however, find a player to help strengthen a now extremely weak front court rotation. With it being this late in the season, the Heat wont have a lot of option to work with.
