5. Billy Donovan

It appears Billy Donovan would like to try the NBA, right? I mean rumors are swirling the Florida Gators’ coach like water in a drain, so if there really is any validity, why wouldn’t Donovan take the jump to Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and the possibility of early NBA success?

4. Stan Van Gundy

The Thunder need a coach that can handle talent as well as develop a team. So who better than Stan Van Gundy? The mustachioed master of the hardwood has worked under Pat Riley, taken Dwight Howard to the NBA Finals and exposed the potential of the Detroit Pistons. Although Van Gundy has near-total control of the Pistons, coaching the Thunder is still a better job offer short-term.

3. Mark Jackson

You can view the Golden State Warriors’ 2015 success as either something Mark Jackson started or something Steve Kerr sparked. If OKC doesn’t buy into the latter, they could hire the former.

2. Vinny Del Negro

Vinny Del Negro won 56 games with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2012-13 and hasn’t coached since. Three straight years of improvement and the Clippers kicked Del Negro to the curb for the flashier Doc Rivers. Typical Los Angeles and typically excellent revenge story if OKC gives Del Negro his deserved shot.

1. Kevin Ollie

The young UConn Huskies men’s basketball coach has already approached the pinnacle, yet it might seem to be a coattail achievement on a program Jim Calhoun built. Kevin Ollie could try OKC to clear his name as a beneficiary and become a benefactor.
