5 Offseason Moves Orlando Magic Need To Make to Become Contenders

It may seem odd that a team that hasn't won 30 games in the past three season would be considered contenders in 2015-16, but the Orlando Magic have a nucleus that will make them a very scary team in the East for years to come. Let’s look at the five moves the Magic need to make this offseason to become contenders in 2015-16.

5. Let Tobias Harris Walk

Tobias Harris is a great player, and his future is very, very bright, but I don’t think the Magic have the resources to match a max deal that is certain to come his way from either the Knicks or the Lakers.

4. Draft Justise Winslow

Winslow came into his own during the NCAA tournament this year, and he would be a tremendous fit for a Magic team that will be looking for outside shooting. If the Magic draft Winslow and allow Harris to walk, he will be able to slide into the small forward spot and provide help almost immediately.

3. Allow Aaron Gordon To Develop

Letting Harris walk will free up more time for Gordon to progress and make his impact felt. He doesn’t have to be a scorer, but he can be a beast on the defensive end and on the glass, where he is needed the most.

2. Win Either the Kevin Love or LaMarcus Aldridge Sweepstakes in Free Agency

Vucevic needs help on the frontcourt, and Aldridge or Love would fit what the team needs. Love can help with the outside shooting to go along with his superior rebounding, and Aldridge is not too bad from the outside himself, and can provide help in the paint. Both would offer the versatility that would make the Magic’s frontcourt one of the best in the East, which is why the Magic should make it a priority to bring in Love or Aldridge.

1. Hire Tom Thibodeau

With the Bulls ready to let him go even if they win it all, Orlando would be the best fit for him. The Magic would have a team that suits Thibs' system to perfection. Will Thibodeau at the helm, Orlando would go from also-rans, to East contenders in an instant.

Curry Nails Half-Court Buzzer-Beater On Orlando Magic

Stephen Curry dropped 51 points on the Orlando Magic on Thursday night, and at times it seemed like he was incapable of missing a shot. He was even able to knock down this buzzer-beater from half-court like it was no big deal, which was one of his nine 3-pointers made.
