The Indiana Pacers — and specifically, Larry Bird — went into 2015 NBA Free Agency with the goal of getting guard Monta Ellis signed to a contract. By all indications, that will happen before the first day is in the books.
According to Yahoo! Sports‘ Adrian Wojnarowski, the Pacers are pushing hard to sign the former Dallas Mavericks guard.

The Pacers head into 2015 with the plan of speeding up the offensive tempo, which is why Ellis makes perfect sense as their top free agent target. Not only is he an excellent scorer, but he’s an electric athlete who can provide a spark to an Indiana offense that has played lethargic basketball at times.
Teamed with a healthy Paul George, Ellis should thrive if he chooses to sign with the Pacers. Considering the tone Twitter has taken on the talks between Ellis and Indiana, this deal will be done before Wednesday is over.
