The Milwaukee Bucks are on the verge of trading veteran small forward Jared Dudley to the Washington Wizards, a move that proves the Bucks’ management knows what they’re doing. Its the perfect move for a thriving young team that has talent they need to showcase. With the signing of Greg Monroe, which won’t be official until July 9, the Bucks have all the tools necessary for a deep run, and there simply isn’t space for everyone on the roster — it came down to Dudley being the odd man out.

Dudley surprised a lot of people when he opted into the final year of his contract with the Bucks, worth $4.25 million, so it shouldn’t be a shock to see him leaving town. The team has a plethora of young players they want to give time to, and Dudley simply doesn’t have the tenure necessary for them to want to keep him around. He played a minor role in the Bucks’ success this past season, and he averaged 7.2  points in 23.8 minutes per game.

With a starting five that projects to include the likes of Michael Carter-Williams, Khris Middleton, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jabari Parker and Greg Monroe, and a number of threats coming off the bench, Dudley quickly became the most expendable. Small forward Damien Inglis, the Bucks’ second-round pick in 2014, spent his entire rookie season on the sidelines due to an injury to his foot, but seems to be healthy and ready to go for head coach Jason Kidd‘s potent team.

The Milwaukee Bucks’ moves over the past few weeks show their executive team has clear intentions in mind and seem content with the team they have been able to assemble. Bucks fans have ton of reasons to be excited for this upcoming season.
