The Philadelphia 76ers are a trainwreck right now, but in the past, the Sixers were an elite organization. Philly has had championship-level success and plenty of talented players to match. But who are the top 10? Here are my selections.

10. Larry Costello

Before the Sixers were the Sixers, Larry Costello ran the point for the Syracuse Nationals for a decade. Costello’s main job was to get the ball to Hall of Famers Wilt Chamberlain and Hal Greer, which he did effectively. However, Costello was still able to get his own, averaging 13 points and almost five assists over his career.

Maurice Cheeks was a longtime Sixer and a gifted passer who played on the legendary 76ers teams of the mid-1980s. Teamed with Julius Erving, Moses Malone and Charles Barkley, Cheeks was the ultimate distributor, allowing Malone, Erving and Barkley to thrive.

8. Andrew Toney

Known simply as the "Boston Strangler", Andrew Toney was a clutch yet underrated player for the 1980s Sixers. In Game 7 of the 1982 Eastern Conference Finals, Toney had 34 points, advancing Philadelphia to the NBA Finals after nearly blowing a 3-1 lead to the Celtics for the second consecutive season.

7. Dolph Schayes

Schayes is one of the all-time Sixer greats, spending his entire career with the Nationals/Sixers organization. For his career, Schayes put up 18.5 points and 12.1 rebounds per game.

Hal Greer is an all-time great for the Sixers as his selection to the 50 greatest NBA players of all time proves. In 15 seasons, Greer put up 19.2 points per game and collected 21,586 points. He is the Sixers’ all-time leader in points, games played, minutes played, field goals and field goal attempts.

5. Charles Barkley

Barkley is famous on the court and polarizing off it for a number of reasons, but he was one of the 50 greatest players. Barkley started his career with Philadelphia and from 1984-92, he put up 23.3 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.7 steals and one block per game.

4. Allen Iverson

It's a minor miracle that Allen Iverson single-handedly led the Sixers to an NBA Finals appearance in 2001, but he was more than capable of carrying the team. Iverson was a seven-time All-Star, the 2001 NBA MVP and a four-time scoring champion.

3. Moses Malone

Moses Malone only played three seasons with the 76ers, but without him, the Sixers couldn't win the 1983 NBA Championship. Also that season, Malone was the 1983 NBA MVP award. The Sixers of that season only lost one postseason game and swept the Lakers, mostly because of Malone.

2. Julius Erving

Known simply as "The Doctor", Julius Erving is one of the greatest Philadelphia 76ers to ever play and is one of the greatest scorers in NBA history. In each of his 11 seasons in Philly, Erving was an All-Star. He was also a two-time All-Star Game MVP and led the 76ers to their first title since 1967 in 1983.

1. Wilt Chamberlain

Simply the most dominant player in NBA history, Wilt Chamberlain led the Sixers to their first title in 1967 on one of the greatest single-season teams ever assembled. In three seasons in Philly, Chamberlain was a three-time All-Star. His team was the only to dethrone the Celtics when Bill Russell was healthy.
