The Washington Wizards are on the cusp of doing something special for their city. Washingtonians haven't seen their team make it to the Eastern Conference Finals in decades, and the Wizards came so close to achieving that last season. Next year, they should have another great shot at making it happen, and you should watch out for Washington to make another playoff run in this coming season.

Some folks may say that John Wall has already peaked as a player, but the PG must have learned some crucial lessons from Paul Pierce last season that he can use in the future. Will Wall get any votes for NBA MVP? If the Wizards can finish with the best record in the Eastern Conference, then it is definitely on the table.

Bradley Beal is slowly but surely turning into one of the NBA's best shooting guards. He is a perfect complement to Wall's drive-and-kick game, and the Wizards will be tough to beat next season if the SG can find a way to stay healthy all year. Beal will make the 2015-2016 All-Star team with some better injury luck.

Marcin Gortat is no superstar. We all know that, but he has displayed some excellent chemistry with Wall in pick-and-roll situations, and the big man they call "The Polish Hammer" is a valuable weapon against teams like the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers. He will help push the Wizards into the playoffs.

Is Randy Wittman a mastermind? No, he is not. But Wittman also understands a good thing when it is in front of him, and he knows better than to keep Wall and Beal on a leash offensively. It would be nice to see a little more creativity out of timeouts from Wittman in the future; however, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

Kevin Durant is entering unrestricted free agency next summer, and he is originally from the DMV area. The Wizards would obviously love to have him on board, and they could help sway his decision their way with a run to the Eastern Conference Finals. Ultimately, he will probably stay in Oklahoma City, but Washington must do everything they can to convince KD to come home. This motivation will cause them to at least make the playoffs.

Wizards' Drew Gooden Turns Bizarre Possession Into And-One Chance

This has to go down as one of the strangest plays in the NBA this season. Washington's Drew Gooden throws a bad pass which bounces right back to him, and then manages to turn a feeble shot attempt into an and-one opportunity thanks to boneheaded defense from Derrick Favors. Sadly, Gooden missed the subsequent free-throw attempt.
