5 Hypothetical Trades the Memphis Grizzlies Could Make Before the Deadline

The Memphis Grizzlies haven't gotten off to the start they wanted to, and it might be time to shake things up for this team that has never risen over the hump in the Western Conference. Playing nitty-gritty basketball is great at times in the playoffs, but in today's NBA you also have to be able to shoot the ball. Here are some shooters that Memphis could target before the deadline.

Doug McDermott isn't getting enough run with the Chicago Bulls right now, and that is a situation the Grizzlies can take advantage of. They would have to take back Kirk Hinrich in this deal as well to make the money work, but it isn't as if Jordan Adams and Matt Barnes are crucial to their success. This would be a move that could improve both sides.

4. Tony Allen and Trade Exception For Warriors' Harrison Barnes

Tony Allen is the heart and soul of the Grizzlies, but Harrison Barnes would give them a great scoring option. People often forget that he was a borderline superstar during his time with the North Carolina Tar Heels. This isn't a likely trade for either side, but it could come into play if the Golden State Warriors decide they don't want to pay Barnes next summer. David Lee's trade exception would make this work financially.

3. Zach Randolph For Hawks' Kyle Korver and Thabo Sefolosha

To get something great, you have to give up something great. Kyle Korver could completely change the dynamic of the Grizzlies, but they probably wouldn't give up Zach Randolph due to his post skills. Thabo Sefolosha would need to be in this deal as well for financial reasons, but don't hold your breath on this trade.

2. Vince Carter For Nuggets' Randy Foye

This is a swap that would help both teams. The Denver Nuggets would get a veteran leader in Vince Carter to tutor their young players, and the Grizzlies would receive another 3-point threat to help Marc Gasol with floor spacing. This trade would make me feel bad for Carter, but sometimes you don't always get what you want in the NBA.

1. Tony Allen For Clippers' Jamal Crawford

This move actually makes a lot of sense for all parties. Allen would give the Clippers a defensive stopper on the wing that they've missed since they traded Barnes, and Jamal Crawford would add some flair and shooting to a team that's lacking both. Here is hoping the basketball gods make this trade happen.
