The Philadelphia 76ers are in the midst of having the worst losing streak in all of sports history with 28 losses in a row. On Tuesday, however, the team faces another struggling NBA team in the Los Angeles Lakers. By the looks of how the Lakers are playing right now, it’s easy to say that they will be the first team Sixers notch up a victory against and break the dreadful losing streak.

The matchup will see the No. 2 pick in last year’s draft in D’Angelo Russell and the No. 3 pick in Jahlil Okafor. It seems abundantly clear that so far Okafor has surpassed the expectations of fitting into the professional level more than Russell. With Okafor, Isaiah Canaan and Robert Covington playing extremely well for the Sixers, the Lakers have a tough task ahead of them which could mean Philly finally pulls off a victory if the Lakers’ defense continues to struggle.

The Lakers have proven over the course of the first 16 games that consistency just isn’t their strength thus far. The three-point shooting has been atrocious to the point where players look like they are just chucking shots up and praying for them to hit the bottom of the net. Russell still needs growth and to gain the maturity that is needed to become a viable threat in the NBA. Nick Young, always known to be a streaky scorer, needs to realize that his selfishness is what causes his team to lose the chemistry and flow that is needed to win games. Kobe Bryant needs to just completely stop his three-point attempts at this point, as he’s shooting a whopping 19 percent from behind the arc, including a few air-balls.

If fans look at the Sixers’ last few games, they would see that the team hasn’t been losing by much at all. They have come particularly close in the last five outings to beating teams like the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves and Miami Heat. By the looks of those games and the quality of the teams listed, one can speculate that the purple and gold could be the first to fall to the only winless team in the NBA.
