Minnesota Timberwolves Must Trade For One Of These 5 Players In 2016

By Brad Berreman

The Minnesota Timberwolves look like a young team on the rise, and Tom Thibodeau is now in place as a proven coach. A move toward the playoffs next season is on the radar, and with that in mind the Timberwolves must look to trade for one of these five players this offseason.

5. Michael Carter-Williams, PG, Milwaukee Bucks

Carter-Williams lost the starting point guard spot in Milwaukee to Giannis Antetokounmpo, and he's absolutely on the trade block. The 2013 lottery pick is a flawed offensive player, but he could still fit nicely as Ricky Rubio's backup in Minnesota.

4. Kenneth Faried, PF, Denver Nuggets

Injuries limited "The Manimal" to 67 games this year, and a glut of big guys in Denver may lead to a reduced role. His contract may soon not look so bad ($38.7 million over the next three seasons), and Minnesota does not need Faried to be a star.

Gibson's progress over Thibodeau's final two seasons as Chicago's head coach was thrown off this season, due in part to a string of injuries. With one year left on his contract, the Bulls may seriously look to move Gibson this offseason.

2. Nerlens Noel, F/C, Philadelphia 76ers

Noel is a limited offensive player, but he is on the trade block and would fit well alongside Karl Anthony-Towns. I'm an advocate for Gorgui Dieng as Minnesota's starting power forward next season, but Noel has more upside.

The fit between Minnesota and Butler is obvious, with Thibodeau in place as coach along with having a voice on personnel. It will probably take the No. 5 overall pick and another player to pry Butler from Chicago, but it isn't out of the question.
