2016 NBA Draft: Top 5 Power Forward Prospects

The 2016 NBA Draft will take place later this month, with the top two picks virtually assured to be Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram in some order. After that plenty of players are in the mix to fill out the rest of the lottery, and here are the top five power forward prospects in this year’s class.

5. Deyonta Davis, Michigan State

With a lack of great numbers last season (7.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game), Davis was a fairly surprising one-and-done. But his per-40 minute numbers (16.1 points, 11.8 rebounds) point to his upside, and Davis is slated to be a lottery pick.

4. Domantas Sabonis, Gonzaga

Sabonis had a breakout sophomore season at Gonzaga, and he has a polished offensive game similar to his father Arvydas. Spurred by a strong finish (double-doubles in all three NCAA tournament games), Sabonis should be a lottery pick.

3. Henry Ellenson, Marquette

Ellenson entered the draft after a solid freshman season (17.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.8 assists per game). He draws high marks as a ball handler, and with untapped upside as a three-point shooter, there's a lot for NBA teams to like.

2. Marquese Chriss, Washington

Chriss' stock is rising, to the point Draft Express.com has him going to the Boston Celtics at No. 3 overall in their latest mock. That's a little aggressive for me, but the perception of upside should make Chriss a top-10 pick.

1. Dragan Bender, Croatia

Bender has the all-around skills to be a "stretch four", but as is the case with most international prospects, he comes with questions about his defense. But the Celtics seem to have strong interest, and Bender won't make it out of the top five.
