The Minnesota Timberwolves have a promising group of young players, so they aren’t likely to be big players in the free agent market this summer. With specific needs they could address though, the Timberwolves must sign two of these five free agents.
5. SG/SF Gerald Henderson

Henderson is a capable veteran who won't need a lot of touches offensively. Those should be two top criteria for any Timberwolves free agent target, with few exceptions, and Henderson won't cost a ton in years or money.
4. SF Harrison Barnes

Barnes is a restricted free agent, so the Golden State Warriors can match any offers he gets. His ability to move into an alpha role is a big question, but cost aside, Barnes would fit nicely as a complementary piece with the Timberwolves.

Deng was one of the poster boys for those that say Tom Thibodeau played guys too many minutes in Chicago, so a reunion may not happen. But the 31-year-old is a good defender with something to offer offensively, and Minnesota should have interest.

Gasol is expected to opt out of the final year of his contract, and he may want to sign with a championship contender. The Timberwolves aren't there yet, but the possibility to play with countryman Ricky Rubio could appeal to Gasol.

Noah is heading for free agency, with rumors already tying him to the Timberwolves and Thibodeau. Minnesota needs a veteran big guy who is actually a functional player, and Noah looks like a great fit.
