Charles Barkley Apologizes To Big Ol' San Antonio Women — Says He Understands Their Love For Churros

By Timothy Downs

Back in 2014, NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley made news for commenting on the women of San Antonio, Texas.

There’s some big ol’ women down there … that’s a gold mine for Weight Watchers,” said Barkley, who proceeded to call the River Walk a “dirty creek.”

Victoria is definitely a secret in San Antonio.

Naturally, Barkley’s comments didn’t go over well in San Antonio.

However, he refused to backtrack, and instead essentially doubled down on his ridiculousness.

From ForTheWin:

If you don’t like me or the show, turn it off. And they want me to apologize. That’s not going to happen. That’s not gonna happen. You all can write letters to your momma, your daddy, your uncle. I’m going to have fun on television. You know that I’m joking around. But if y’all waiting on me to apologize, hell gonna freeze over.

Fast forward three years, Barkley is covering the Houston Rockets vs. San Antonio Spurs Western Conference semifinals series for TNT.

On Monday night, Barkley, who isn’t exactly physically fit himself, acted as if he was prepared to apologize to the women of San Antonio. Instead, he made yet more weight jokes.

I want to apologize to the women of San Antonio. Ernie, I had churros last night. I see what all the excitement is about! I had churros last night. Man … them damn things good, Ernie. Them churros good. I see why they got all them big ol’ women down in San Antonio. Man, them churros are the bomb!

The saga continues…
