Student athletes seem to always be getting themselves into weird situations and circumstances around the beginning of a new season and this season Chane Behanan is no exception to this unfortunate rule.

The Louisville Cardinals‘ sophomore forward from Cincinnati, OH was involved in some unspecified “incidents” according to head coach Rick Pitino and now Behanan must sit out the team’s first exhibition game on November 1 versus the Pikeville Bears and even more unorthodox he has been banned from speaking to the media for the duration of this semester. No further information was released by either Pitino or the university concerning what these “incidents” were but one can only speculate that they must have not been too severe otherwise the penalty would have been stiffer.

The 6’6″ 250lbs forward averaged 9.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 51% from the field and playing 26 minutes per contest during his freshman campaign last season and is considered one of the preseason second ranked team in the country (according to coaches poll) best returning players from a year ago. The Cardinals are expected to remain one of the top teams in the Big East and also one of the top contenders for a National Title all season long and they will need stellar play out of Behanan to do so. It will be interesting to see both Behanan’s and the media’s reactions following a big game by the team in regards to wanting to interview him or him wanting to be interviewed.

Louisville opens the regular season on in less than three weeks with a home showdown versus the Manhattan Jaspers on November 11.
