At 7-5 within the Big East Conference, the Cincinnati Bearcats are currently positioned right outside the discussion atop the league. Their opponent on Friday night however, is one step above them, so the importance of this rare Friday night showcase speaks for itself.

The Georgetown Hoyas are in town on Friday night, as Cincinnati looks to make a statement within the conference. Both teams are more than likely bound for the NCAA Tournament, but with three solid weeks still remaining before the conference tournament, each game continues to hold even higher implications.

Should the Bearcats be able to protect their home court, then things will become even more log-jammed atop the conference standings heading into Saturday. The key for Cincinnati more than likely relies within the hands of starting point guard Cashmere Wright. After a terrific start to the season, Wright’s number have been down as of recent. His production is crucial alongside the team’s leading scorer Sean Kilpatrick in the back court.

While the Hoyas may hold the advantage inside, the Bearcats need to exercise a strong showing on the perimeter, not to mention, take care of business at home. Cincinnati has not been the greatest team in terms of securing wins at home, but if at any point in the season they needed to do so, Friday night is the night.

On the other hand, implications are also through the roof for Georgetown. The Hoyas can take sole possession of first place from tonight and into tomorrow if they can secure a road victory.

Tip-off is scheduled for 9:00pm (EST).
