A Look At Villanova Wildcats’ Incoming Freshmen

Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Villanova Wildcats may not be getting Andrew Wiggins, but their incoming freshmen for the 2013-14 college basketball season is not too shabby.

The Wildcats will be getting two 4-stars and one 3-star. There is nothing wrong with that, especially since two of these players are top 100 recruits, according to ESPN. Kris Jenkins is ranked No. 73 and Josh Hart is ranked No. 92. Those are clearly not as good as a couple of  top 10 recruits or anything like that, but that is still pretty good talent for Villanova. I’m not saying that the Wildcats underachieve or anything like that, they just do not get the recruits quite like the Kentucky Wildcats. At least that can be said for this year because Kentucky will be bringing in arguably the best recruiting class of all time.

Villanova made the 2013 NCAA Tournament as a No. 9 seed, but it got bounced out of the second round by the North Carolina Tar Heels.

Who knows how the Wildcats will fair next season, along with the rest of the teams in the new, old or whatever you want to call the leftovers of the Big East. The new season is very far away. The incoming recruits could make an impact for this team, but we will not know that until they actually hit the court or bench.

Still, the Wildcats pulled off some major upsets this year and as long as they keep getting good recruiting classes, that trend will continue. Villanova has some pretty good players coming back next season. Combine that with the incoming freshmen, and you have a team that could make some noise.
