How Can Syracuse Orange’s C.J. Fair Increase His Draft Stock Next Season?

Debby Wong-USA TODAY Sports

C.J. Fair will likely be the best player on the Syracuse Orange entering the 2013-14 college basketball season, but how can he increase his draft stock for the 2014 NBA Draft?

First off, this past season Fair averaged 14.5 points per game, seven rebounds per game, he shot 47 percent from the field and 46.9 percent from behind the arc. Those numbers right there are pretty good, but he can be even better in the upcoming season.

For Fair to increase his draft stock, though, he can simply lead the Big East in scoring. Who knows if that will happen, but he at least has the offensive abilities to average around 17 points per game. His seven rebounds per game was very impressive and he needs to make sure that number does not decrease. Increasing it would do him wonders, though.

Fair can also take more shots from behind the arc. He did make 30 on the year at a very high rate, so why not? Fair is 6’8”, so it will be important to show NBA teams that he can score in a variety of ways.

All of this would be great over the course of the regular season, but what would really give Fair’s draft stock a boost is a good outing in the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Although this doesn’t always work, taking his team far in the dance will show his leadership skills and his talent. Not to mention, I am sure that Fair wants to win a championship at Syracuse.

Regardless, Fair is a great player and he could easily have a big season in his final year in college hoops, which would likely help with his draft stock.
