Florida State and their men’s head basketball coach, Leonard Hamilton have agreed to an extension through the 2016-17 season the school announced on Wednesday.
Hamilton has been the head coach for the Seminoles since 2002 and has had one of the best careers as a head coach for the school. During his time at Florida State he has led the Seminoles to four NCAA tournaments and has had six seasons with 20 wins or more.

In 2012, Leonard Hamilton and his team brought home the first ACC tournament championship in school history to go along his second ACC Coach of the Year, an award which he had also won in 2009.
Since the 2005-06 season, Florida State has recorded the third most wins in the ACC, and with an expanded conference starting this season, the Seminoles feel that Hamilton is their best option in the future to guide the Seminoles through the hardest conference in America.
Florida State is going to have to bounce back from a tough year both on and off the court. Most people expected them to contend in the ACC last year, but they finished sixth with a disappointing 18-16 overall record. In the off-season, many people felt they were the favorites for top recruit, Andrew Wiggins, but that turned out not to be the case.
Not many people expect much from Hamilton’s squad in this upcoming season, but with Hamilton as the coach you can expect a team that is going to give it their all game in and game out.
