Kansas Jayhawks Right Where They Should Be In Coaches Poll

Kansas Jayhawks

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas Jayhawks will enter the season by being ranked No. 6 in the USA Today Coaches Poll, which is right where they should be.

Kansas will be losing its entire starting five from last year’s team. No worries because Andrew Wiggins is here to save the day. Wiggins is the most buzzed about high school prospect since LeBron James. As a result, I am sure Wiggins will be one-and-done, but I am also sure he will tear it up in in the 2013-14 college basketball season.

If it wasn’t for Wiggins joining who knows where Kansas would be ranked. Definitely outside of the top 10, though.

Ahead of the Jayhawks in the rankings are Arizona, Duke, Louisville, Michigan State and Kentucky. There are really no surprises there.

I am sure there are people out there that think Kansas should have been ranked higher. Luckily Kansas will have a very tough schedule and will be able to move up the rankings if it can pass some tough tests.

The Jayhawks will take on Florida, Duke, New Mexico, San Diego State, Georgetown and Colorado. The Blue Devils are ranked No. 4, the Gators are ranked No. 8, New Mexico is ranked No. 20 and the Buffaloes got snubbed out of the rankings.

Nonetheless, Kansas is going to have it rough this season so hopefully it is the real deal. As of right now, though, a No. 6 ranking is right where the Jayhawks belong.

This team will take the court on Nov. 8 and we will finally get to see if Wiggins is worth the hype. My guess is that he is.
